Job Title: Youth Project Worker

Location: High Wycombe

Salary: £22,675 – 25,380 per annum, dependent on experience.

Job Type: Full time, Permanent

Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday, with some flexibility required on occasion to support the needs of the young people.

At Connection Support, our team of staff members and volunteers work alongside people to overcome life’s challenges, with the goals of solving homelessness and achieving independence. We do this through our values of empowerment, collaboration, compassion and taking a personalised approach in all aspects of our work.

We are recruiting two full-time Youth Project Workers who understand what it takes to motivate and encourage young people so they can live independently through tailored support.

What You will be Doing

Acting as a role model, you understand that the young people you are supporting could have difficult days. You will provide a caring, supportive, and nurturing environment in which they can feel secure and safe from harm.

Building positive relationships with young people, you will support to address any difficulties, liaise with families or health professionals, support to retain or obtain accommodation, and promote independent living skills, e. g budgeting, employment, cooking, cleaning, and self-care ensuring people reach their full potential.

You will be required to attend meetings, update case notes, support plans, outcomes, action plans and risk assessments, of which full training will be provided. There is also an element of phone support you will need to provide to cover the on-call service, which is paid on top of your salary and training is provided.

What you will need

You’re an empathetic person, who understands sometimes all people need is for someone to listen, you have patience in motivating people to achieve their goals and are adaptable to situations that can change. You also have no problem getting stuck in, taking part in activities, and supporting people to access resources and events.

You will have experience of working with either young people, mental health, or complex needs, good knowledge of using IT systems to keep up-to-date records. Ideally, you will have knowledge of support planning, developing action plans and risk assessments, however full training will be provided.

Above all, you are passionate about making a difference, and have a natural ability to help make the lives of others more fulfilling and you want to work in an environment where the work can be challenging, fun and rewarding.

Due to this role being community based, a driver’s licence and access to a vehicle is essential.
