Outreach Worker – £18,000 to £18,500 pro rata dependant on experience
Keyworker – £19,000 to £22,500 dependant on experience

Outreach Worker – 16 hours per week, 12 month post
Keyworker – 37.5 hours per week, 12 month post

Bradford is one of 21 Local Authority Areas to receive funding through the Troubled Families Programme for tackling youth crime. This fund will bring together VCS keyworkers, police, targeted Early Help, community groups, teachers and other professionals to intervene earlier to help stop young people from becoming drawn into crime, serious violence and entering the youth justice system.
This locality based model is an extension of the existing VCS Families First Partnership in Bradford comprising of 4 prominent local charities. The partnership are looking to recruit dynamic, experienced individuals to deliver coordinated responses for 6-13 year olds and their families through a Keyworker, school transition and outreach model of support.
The Role:
Each role varies slightly in their day to day activities however the fundamentals will remain the same:
- To engage with young people aged 6-13 of all backgrounds and cultures within your locality who have been identified as showing risk taking behaviour. Acting early enough to prevent them from potential involvement with the Police
- Link with delivery partners (including the police team) and maintain good communications
- Build relationships with local projects and services to find appropriate activities to meet individual needs of young people you are working with
- Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of your work
- Have an understanding of child protection and safeguarding issues and act appropriately and quickly should issues of concern arise
- Respect and honour cultural and human diversity
- Develop relationships with young people that offer the potential for social, educational and personal development
Skills & Experience:
- Experience of working with young people with multiple or complex needs
- Experience of working with Young People who have been involved in criminal activities and helping them to achieve their potential
- Experience of working in a team and towards joint outcomes
- Safeguarding training and experience of working with vulnerable families/young people
- Knowledge of services supporting young people and families locally
- Effective oral and written communication skills, and ability to adapt communication to suit the audience
- Self-motivation and a positive can do attitude
- Confidence to engage with young people who may be challenging and reluctant
- Effective time management and organisational skills and the ability to manage work demands
- Ability to develop good working relationships with other agencies and networking and sharing good practice
- Able to meet the physical mobility requirements of the post
- Commitment to and understanding of equal opportunities and anti-discriminatory practices
- Flexibility to work unsociable hours
- Full driving license and use of a vehicle with business use on insurance
