Job Title: Workshop Manager
Location: Milton Keynes
Salary: £37,000 – £40,000 – DOE
Job type: Permanent – Full time
This expanding metalwork engineering company is currently looking to recruit an experienced Workshop Manager to lead its small but busy manufacturing team, based in Castlethorpe. Our workshop produces various fabrications from thin sheet to medium thickness mild steel, we also use aluminium and stainless-steel folded components and CNC machined parts. The successful candidate must have proven management experience in a fabrication environment and will take charge of a team of skilled fabricators, whilst overseeing the whole manufacturing process.
The Role
- Oversee the day to day running of the Workshop and the production process, including the supervision of staff.
- Liaise with Production Office and allocate labour and resources to achieve tight deadlines.
- Liaise with Manager of Despatch to coordinate work schedules.
- To arrange the maintenance and servicing of machinery.
- Ordering of Workshop consumables and stock take.
- To lead staff and perform staff reviews as and when required.
- Monitor and support staff in any training and development needs.
- Ensure Health & Safety is adhered to.
The Candidate:
- Have proven managerial skills in a manufacturing environment and be able to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Have strong communication skills.
- Be computer literate and have the basics of Microsoft Office, and preferably have worked with computerised MRP systems.
- You must be able to prioritise tasks in an ever-changing demanding environment.
- Motivate your team by leading from the front.
- Preferred but not essential, First Aid, Health & Safety and Fork Truck certificates.
