Job Title: Website Content Manager

Location: Epsom, Surrey

Salary: £33,000 – £37,000 per year – depending on experience

Job type: 37.5 hours per week. Full-time, permanent. Hybrid working is available upon completing probation.

We work with adults worried about their own sexual thoughts, feelings or behaviour towards children; adults worried about another adult or young person; young people themselves; and with protective adults and professionals.

About you:

Our ideal candidate will be energetic and proactive, with great writing and analytical skills and a knack for getting the most out of websites, landing pages and SEO. You will have a track record of delivering multiple projects side-by-side and be able to adjust when new high-priority work comes in. You will be at home with the technical jargon of the digital world, but be able to interpret and translate this for colleagues across the Foundation, cutting through piles of data to spot what is important.

About the role:

We are recruiting for an experienced Website Content Manager within a small communications team that is always busy and punches above its weight.

This is a new role, reflecting a renewed emphasis that we place on our websites, and your work will be transformational – You will be our website expert.

  • You will lead on website development, management and evaluation, to streamline our multiple websites
  • You will be data-led and responsible for optimising website architecture, user journeys and engagement including on the self-help areas of our websites, vital resources that help protect children
  • You will work at the cutting edge of digital campaigning, managing key day-to-day relationships with PR agencies, government contacts and expert industry support

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Be the Foundation’s website expert, interacting with colleagues at all levels to evaluate and explain impact
  • Build processes that put users, data and research at the heart of new and existing website and content plans
  • Write and edit content so that it is clear, consistent and in plain English
  • Support development and delivery of a strategy to rationalise our websites
  • Monitor, evaluate and optimise website engagement and user journeys, especially for the self-help areas of our websites
  • Input into the online communications strategy, maintaining, revising and updating our websites

Line management:

  • Line manage direct reports, ensuring each have current objectives, monthly supervision and annual appraisals
  • Encourage the personal development of all direct reports to ensure objectives are agreed, monitored and met, identify areas where development and support is needed

External engagement:

  • Represent the Foundation with external stakeholders, nurture key relationships and maintain networks, locally, regionally and nationally
  • Present information and issues, explaining complexities, to a wide range of external audiences
  • Engage constructively with external stakeholders on a range of sensitive issues and support collaborative working

Experience and skills:

  • Degree level education or equivalent level of work experience
  • At least three years’ relevant experience in a similar role
  • A demonstrable track record in developing and implementing digital strategies that underpin broader communications strategies
  • Experience of designing content and optimal user journeys based on research and data
  • Experience taking complicated or sensitive content and making it user-friendly
  • Understanding of user research methods and practice, with proven experience using metrics and user feedback to inform content
  • Experience of search engine optimisation to improve website user acquisition
  • Significant experience of monitoring, evaluating and reporting on large data sets such as Google Analytics, to understand user acquisition and journeys, making decisions which bring about positive change
  • Experience of web content management systems especially WordPress
  • Experience of managing key day-to-day relationships with external organisations
