Front End Web Developer:
As a front-end web developer, you will be responsible for the progression and maintenance of our company websites, with tasks including the creation of new pages and sites, responsive design, refactoring, deploying content to test and live servers, and other web related duties.
You’ll be able to work in a small team, and day-to-day you’ll be reporting to the Head of Digital Marketing. You’ll work alongside our existing web developer, and an experienced digital marketing team.
Responsibilities as a Web Developer:
- Creation of new pages for products, articles, case studies, amongst more.
- Development of new websites for international markets.
- Oversee and manage refactoring of existing sites to good coding standards.
- Support, implement, and develop responsive design for existing sites.
- Peer coding reviews via pull requests, checking work for mistakes.
- Deploying new content and hotfixes to live via a CI/CD pipeline (training provided).
- Review health of our overall site’s infrastructure.
- Provide monthly key performance indicators (KPI’s) results.
- Produce and review existing web documentation on Confluence.
- General web admin.
Key Skills and Experience:
- Worked with flat HTML sites (not in a framework), vanilla JavaScript or legacy jQuery.
- Good understanding of HTML 5 validation and is aware of the W3C Nu Validator.
- Bachelor’s degree in a web development related course an advantage.
- Commercial experience an advantage.
- A passion for good coding standards and attention to detail.
Desirable Skills:
- Has worked with CSS3 and front-end design and implementation.
- Worked with the Atlassian ecosystem – Jira, Bitbucket, Confluence, Slack, and Trello.
- Worked with Git either using command line or Windows/Linux applications.
- Has been part of the peer review process (pull requests in Bitbucket).
- Has worked in an Agile environment (Scrum, Kanban, XP).
- Is able to spot and fix erroneous HTML mark-up, JavaScript code (i.e., reading error logs or console errors).
- An advantage to write readable PHP code to PSR 2 standards, PSR 12 an advantage.
- Has experience with Bitbucket Pipelines.
- Has worked with WordPress.
- Has an understanding of SEO.
