Job Title: Warehouse Operative
Location: Hyde, Manchester
Salary: £11.44 – £13.85 per hour depending on experience
Job Type: Full Time, Permanent
Working Hours: Monday – Thursday – 8am-5pm – Friday 8am-12:45pm (38.75 hours per week)
An established Fabrics company are looking for an order picker for their Manchester Warehouse. Main duties include picking and packing using scanners. Permanent role available.
About The Role:
Main Purpose of the Post:
- Supporting the Warehouse Manager, and Assistant Manager
- Picking, processing and dispatch of customer orders accurately
- Supervise and support temporary workers as and when required
Main Responsibilities:
- Meet the minimum pick requirement per day (KPI) of 500 items
- Picking of readymade stock for customer orders using scanners
- Packaging and dispatch of customer orders, transfer of stock
- Processing of all administrative work to agreed deadlines including:
- Ensuring all orders are confirmed
- Labels are correctly printed, orders correctly labelled
- Ensure all orders are confirmed on time
- Ensuring stock is available for picking and packing – booking onto system
- Liaising with other departments as necessary to ensure stock issues are dealt with
- Maintain housekeeping of working area
- Loading, unloading using a fork lift truck as and when required
- Understanding and be able to download when and if which documents need to be sent
- Storing and rotating stock according to established procedures
Quality Assurance:
- To identify ways of continued quality improvement
- To ensure all customer orders dispatched meet the required standards, i.e. are of suitable quality to meet the customer requirements
- To ensure all products meet required weight limits
Communication:
- Contribute positively to discussions and debates and participating in shared decision making
- Act at all times as an ambassador for the organisation and maintain positive and effective communication both internally and externally to the organisation
- Produce clear, legible and consistent written documentation as required

- To adopt a professional approach with all staff and customers at all times

- Ensure that personal actions and conduct apply with policies and procedures
- Take responsibility for identifying own personal development and education needs ensuring all identified competencies are completed and kept up to date

Health and Safety:
- To report and record all accidents and incidents in line with procedure safeguarding the welfare and safety of all staff during working hours with regard to the Health and Safety at Work Act
- Take reasonable care to avoid injury to yourself or to others and to co-operate with SMD in meeting its statutory requirements
The Candidate:
- Picking experience and Forklift license preferred but not essential
