The role:
The Warehouse & Hangar Assistant is primarily responsible for providing flexible support to the Warehouse department and to maintain the engineering hangar and office facilities to a high level, in keeping with Company standards.
The successful candidate will provide flexible support to the Warehouse department carrying out as necessary general duties within the Stores areas.
Such duties include but are not limited to receiving deliveries; packaging goods for onward shipment; issuing parts and consumables to engineering, maintaining the warehouse security and control.
Additionally, the role will provide support for ‘Goods In’ inspection duties, and issue of a Parts Receiving Inspection authorisation (subject to training); will maintain the hangar facilities, ensuring that they are clean and presentable at all times and at times may assist the Facilities department in carrying out rectification of facilities defects or general maintenance such as painting.
The role will also conduct hangar / warehouse internal audits and be responsible for carrying out remedial repair works, or escalating these as necessary.
In addition to the above, subject to the approval of the Hangar Superintendent or Engineering Manager, the role may also be required to assist engineering staff with basic aircraft maintenance tasks under the supervision of the Licensed Engineer in charge and may also be required to transport items between bases on occasions.
The Hours:
- The Engineering Department operates 365 days a year. The opening and closing hours are based on the customer’s requirements.
- The Warehouse & Hangar Assistant will generally work Monday – Friday, 08.00 – 16.30.
- The standard shift is 8 hours, with a 30-minute unpaid break (total 8 ½ hours).
- The average working week is 40 hours.
- You are expected to work flexibly, as the needs of the business require. On occasions, alternative working hours will be required and this may include weekend / night working.
- Overtime as and when required is agreed with the Hangar Superintendent or Engineering Manager in advance, for which you will receive the options of payment or lieu time.
The Successful Candidate:
- Previous experience preferred in logistics / warehouse / hangar environments.
- Aviation based experience beneficial.
- Applicants should have an organised, adaptable and flexible approach with strong interpersonal skills and a diplomatic approach.
- You will be enthusiastic, willing to learn and maintain a professional appearance and manner even in sometimes difficult circumstances.
- The ability to prioritise in an ever-changing environment, remain calm and adapt under pressure are essential for the role.
- Excellent communication skills combined with courtesy and integrity are also important.
- Good administration skills and computer literacy are essential.
- The role may be required to provide support at both locations therefore a full UK driving license is essential.
- Applicants must have the right to live and work in the UK.
- The right candidate will also need to have a 5-year checkable history in order to obtain an airport ID pass.
