The Role:
The Council’s Street Scene Department is seeking to employ an experienced, enthusiastic and motivated Vehicle and Plant Technician within the Transport Department.
The main responsibility of the role is to ensure effective and efficient maintenance and servicing of all authority vehicles, machinery and plant as required to keep the fleet fully operational. You’ll also need to ensure legal compliance, and to prepare all classes of vehicles to the highest standard for MOT tests.
The position will be based at Canal Head Depot, Kendal, however at times there may be a need to work at other depots
The Candidate:
The successful candidate must have relevant experience as a vehicle and plant technician and relevant training certificates, and must also have experience in hydraulic and electrical systems. You must also hold a current LGV Category C license, and have current CPC training.
Applicants must have good driving skills with the ability to maneuver large goods vehicles in restricted areas. You’ll also work accurately with attention to detail, provide quality customer driven service, and be sufficiently literate to complete routine job documentation.
You’ll be expected to be confident, self-motivated and able to work on your own initiative with minimum supervision. You should also be able to work safely and effectively as part of a team to ensure the delivery and operation of the service.
In addition you will be expected to:
- Have welding experience
- Be familiar with the use of vehicle and engine diagnostic equipment
- Undertake regular specialist product training with relevance to the current fleet and equipment.
