Job Title: Trainee Plant Mechanic
Location: Thame
Salary: £20,000 – £25,000.
Job type: 40 hours per week. Monday to Friday. Full-time, Permanent.

The Role:
We are looking for an Apprentice Plant Fitter to be enrolled in a blended learning programme where you will gain an NVQ Level 3 through a mixture of on-the-job experience and planned training. You will be in college approximately one day a fortnight and the rest of the time you will be working closely with an experienced plant fitter in our office in Thame, and our yard near Maidenhead, as well as travelling to various sites to attend breakdowns.
This qualification will enable you to understand how to operate the plant, the principles you will need to become a Plant Mechanic, getting hands on training with our experienced Plant Fitter. You will learn how to service and repair machines and equipment, from large plant such as paving machines and excavators, to smaller hand tools like whacker plates and breakers. You will gain a varied range of skills including welding and hydraulics. You will benefit from on-the-job experience and will have access to a wide range of plant, tools and equipment.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- 5 GCSE grade C or level 5 or above (ideally including Maths and English)
- A keen interest in plant and mechanics
- A self-motivated and reliable personality
- A full and clean driving licence
- Good communication skills
