Job Title: TOPS Performance Analyst

Our company is the UK’s largest rail freight company. We provide freight, infrastructure and passenger charter trains throughout the UK, and freight services to and from mainland Europe via the Channel Tunnel. We also provide traction and train crew for scheduled passenger operators.
The Role:
We are looking for a TOPS Performance Analyst to join our Performance Team here at DB Cargo UK which will sit under the Resourcing and Control department. The role will help with the delivery of a fully resourced, deliverable, train plan which fulfils DB Cargo UK’s delivery promises to customers, on time, in full, ensuring the safe efficient delivery on a real time basis.
This role offers hybrid working between personal residence and DB Cargo UK’s headquarters at Doncaster Headquarters
What will you be doing?
Here are some of the responsibilities that the successful candidate will have on a day to day basis:
- Release of traffic using customer information and CTT system.
- Inputting of rail vehicle data and the creation of train consists.
- Creation and provision of train lists and other train working documentation in line with
- Safety Case requirements.
- Recording the arrival and departure of trains as well as changes in vehicle status in TOPS.
- Ensure that locomotives and wagons are shown with the correct status in TOPS.
- Liaise with customers on issues relating to the consignment of traffic.
- Effectively communicate with Area Production Staff regarding the arrival and departure of trains, late start reasons, train lists, train consists and deal with any queries relating to these issues.
- Manage the interface with Network Rail, TOPS Direct sites, FVMC on TOPS related issues.
- Liaise with the IT Service Desk on any TOPS Mainframe Failures.
- Maintain and update TOPS Loading Lines (T2XX) in conjunction with the Planning Team.
- Follow up of any billing issues with the Revenue Accounting Team.
- Liaison with private rail vehicle owners and maintainers regarding the status, maintenance and release of vehicles.
- Monitoring of TRUST DA and challenging of incorrect attribution within area of responsibility.
Who are we looking for?
- We are looking for a candidate who has previous experience with working within the rail industry, such as train running experience, however this is not essential.
- We are looking for a candidate who has a strong understanding of Microsoft programmes including Excel to an intermediate level.
- A candidate with good organisational skills and who are self-motivated able manage their own workload with a holistic view and able to complete projects from start to finish ensuring a high quality throughout. Written communication skills are also essential for this position.
- Due to the nature of the position, it is essential that the candidate has an excellent attention to detail as well as being able to demonstrate a high level of analytical skill.
- A candidate who is able to problem solve and communicate with other departments easily and have the ability to establish a rapport with all levels of management and safety representatives will be a key requisite in being a successful post holder.
