Job Title: Theatres Technician

We currently have an opportunity for a multi-skilled Theatre Technician to join the Technical Department here at The Lowry. The Theatre Technician works closely with the Technical Managers and Head of Technical Services to help ensure a smooth running of the Technical Department.
About the role:
This role involves carrying out all duties associated with the get in, fit up, running and get out of a variety pf productions & events taking place across our three theatre spaces, and in other indoor and outdoor spaces. You will be required to work closely with Visiting Companies to provide efficient and professional support for all their technical requirements, and also complete any other tasks needed to help the company facilitate its business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out all duties associated with the getting in, fitting up, running and getting out of productions/events taking place in the theatre spaces.
- Operate lighting, sound, audio visual equipment, counterweight flying systems, motorised truss systems and any other performance associated equipment.
- Assist in the maintenance of technical equipment within the theatre spaces and other areas of the venue.
- Ensure that all technical areas of the building are kept in a clean, tidy and safe condition.
- Complete and file show related paperwork. Act as Duty Technician when required, being the central point of contact with visiting companies/hirers and acting as the Key Member of Staff (KMS) for fire safety.
- Assist with evacuation in the event of an emergency in liaison with the Duty Security Officer.
- Promote and comply with legislation and The Lowry’s policies on equal opportunities and health and safety, both in the delivery of services and the treatment of others.
- Identify and undertake training and development as required in order to meet personal and business needs.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties, commensurate with the level of the post so as to ensure the smooth running of The Lowry.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Skills in all theatrical disciplines including lighting, sound, audio visual, flying, rigging, staging.
- Team Player.
- Communication skills.
- Flexible.
- Knowledge of health and safety legislation and practice.
- Competent in ETC EOS software.
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar position in a receiving or producing theatre environment.
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Administrative and organisational skills, flying, rigging, staging.
- IT skills Word, Excel, CAD software.
- Experience with sACN, artnet, DANTE, networks.
- Moving light maintenance.
- Electrical training.
- BSEN7909.
- First aid training.
- IPAF.
- Health & Safety.
- Rigging.
- Experience of work in a multi space venue.
- Experience in a customer-facing environment.
- Driving licence.
