Job Title: Temporary Grant Admin

Salary: £23,936 pro-rata (based on a 37.5 hour week)
Job Type: Part time 14-20hrs per week (fixed term period of 9 months)
The Centre for Sustainable Energy’s mission is to support people and organisations across the UK to tackle the climate emergency and end the suffering caused by cold homes. As we grow, we are seeing increasing enquiries from people about how welfare reforms, stagnant incomes and more recently the fuel price rises and increasing cost of living are impacting their lives. As a result, these queries are often sensitive in nature, requiring our energy advisors to have an empathetic approach and a can-do attitude to their work.
The Role:
Working within our Household Energy Services (HES) team, the Grant Administrator role is for those who would like to gain experience in administration and customer service. The role will include a probation period and competency review after six months.
Specific responsibilities
An applicant appointed to the role will be expected to:
- Enter text based and numerical information into excel sheets and CSE’s customer database.
- Communicate with people, some of whom may be vulnerable, verbally and in writing.
- Be responsible for the day to day updating of our systems such as your CSE timesheets and our client database.
- Listen attentively to callers (some of whom may be in distress) and respond to their needs in an empathetic way.
- Review eligibility documents submitted by householders to determine their eligibility for funding.
- Familiarise yourself with and adhere to CSE’s protocol, processes and procedures.
Essential attributes for this role include:
- Minimum Maths and English GCSE.
- Fluent English language Skills.
- Ability to respond to clients in a respectful and engaging manner.
- Ability to communicate effectively with people verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work in a team.
- Experience of managing a caseload.
- Ability to take responsibility for you own work and seek support where necessary.
- Highly organised at managing time and workload.

Benefits
We will pay fees and expenses for attendance on relevant training courses, and any expenses incurred in the course of work will be reimbursed in accordance with CSE’s standard staff expenses policy. You will be entitled to 25 days paid holiday (plus statutory holidays) pro rata. There will be a 6-month probationary period and review. New members of HES staff are expected to work in the CSE office throughout the duration of their probation period. However, we acknowledge that there may be exceptional circumstances from time to time when new staff may request to work from home.
After probation coming to the office on an ad hoc basis for key meetings will be expected.
