Job Title: Technical Project Manager
Location: Bournemouth
Salary: £45-£65k per annum
Contract: Fulltime, permanent
About the role;
The Technical Project Manager is responsible for the proper execution and success of their project(s), from the kick-off meeting to the end of the warranty period. They are also involved in the offer creation and review phase, both from a technical and commercial point of view. They are the primary interface for the customer during the project execution phase and ensure adherence to contractual conditions while maintaining customer satisfaction. They are ultimately responsible for project delivery Quality, Costs, and on-time Delivery (QCD)
The position applies to all levels of Project Managers; senior Project Managers are assigned the more complex or large project as characterized by:
- Size > 500K EUR and/or
- New technologies, products, customer or domain, and/or
- Complexity of contractual structure and/or
- Need to lead and coordinate multiple SPHEREA subsidiaries and/or
- Critical customer relation and/or
- Candidates would be expected to contribute hands on and technically to their Projects and therefore should have experience in Electronics Design
Ensure the Project success
To ensure the success of project, the Project Manager:
- Organizes and leads a project Kick Off meeting with the participation of Sales, Finance and other key stakeholders and resources necessary in the execution phase to ensure a proper handover between the bid phase and the execution phase
- Organizes and leads a project Kick Off with the customer
- Defines and maintains the project organization including but not limited to quality plan, work breakdown structure, deliverables and planning
- Ensures that the project is accurately entered into the company’s ERP, financial reporting systems/templates and any other applicable IT tools
- Initiates, coordinates and controls all task according to the project plan and in line with the project lifecycle process
- Holds regular project reviews with the project team and with the customer, documented with minutes of meetings
- Identifies required resources (skills and capacity) and assign them the project in coordination with the Delivery Team. Evaluates the need for external subcontractors, obtain approval from the Delivery Manager and work with the Delivery Team to source them
- Prepares and participates in project reviews
- Pro-actively identifies and reports project issues, proposes and implement corrective actions. The project Manager is responsible for escalating issues that cannot be resolved at their level
- Maintain an up to date estimate of the project’s financial position, including but not limited to: Revenues, cash position, costs-to-date, gross margin, cost -to-complete, receivables, WIP
- Maintains a risk and opportunities register with mitigation actions
- Ensures the timely recognition of revenues, issuing of invoices and cash collection
- Initiates and monitors external purchases (material, labor, services) with the support of the Sourcing, Purchasing and manufacturing functions
- Keeps a register of all additional customer requests, change of scope or change of specification in order to maintain or increase the initial project gross margin. Initiates, supports and leads (together with sales) the requests for additional funds from the customer (variation orders, claims)
- Projects involving multiple SPHEREA Group entities are led by a Senior Project Manager, responsible for the intra-group coordination, cross-subsidiaries project reviews and for the group consolidated revenues and gross margin
Contributes to the offer creation process
At the request of the business, Project Managers participate in the Go/No Go and Bid Reviews process for projects that they may lead, or where their experience is needed to develop a commercial and technical proposal
The Project Managers participates in the offer creation process by:
- Evaluating the project management workload and, and in coordinating with DT, execution resources availability
- Contributing to the identification and estimates of project risks and opportunities
- Defining, or supporting the definition of, the proposed project schedule, work breakdown schedule, and key milestones with a goal to minimize risks
- Identifies the obligations of the customer and propose corresponding wording to be included in the commercial proposal
- On an ad-hoc basis, supports Sales in presenting the commercial and technical offer
Evaluation Criteria
The success of a project is measured by:
- Customer satisfaction, as measured by the existing customer survey process
- The OTD indicator
- The Gross Margin, at or above the baseline as set during the kick-off meeting
- The Quality of the deliverables as measured by OQD Metric
- Candidates with experience in Electronics Design would be preferred
