We are recruiting a Technical Officer (Surveyor) to work providing DFG Adaptions, within our Planned Works and Housing Teams. You will be working across the Harrogate District to provide, technical advice, overseeing and designing adaptions at residential properties to support the needs of our customers. To fulfil the role you will visit properties in the district using your own vehicle.
The post holder reports to the Planned Works Manager, however will work closely with the Housing renewal Manager in the delivery of a quality service.

About the role:
- You will consult with customers regarding disabled improvements and adaptations to their homes and prepare schedules of work/drawings/specifications. These are assessed for delivery in accordance with eligible DFG funding to meet individual needs of the Customer.
- Obtaining and evaluating quotations for work, with a focus on quality and value for money, to provide standard Adaptation solutions.
- You will project manage the agreed work, monitoring contractor performance ensuring all work is carried out to a high standard. You will generally work within the scope of pre-tendered contracts. However, larger home extension works will require individual designs and procurement through competitive tender.
- Developing and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders and in particular Occupational Therapists. Other key relationships naturally include the DFG customer, along with building contractors, specialist disability equipment installers, external design consultants, Building Inspectors and Planners.
- Carrying out final completion inspections and signing off projects, ensuring these meet required standards for quality, contractor performance, budget and deliver on agreed customer expectations.
- Managing your allocated projects to efficiently deliver on an agreed programme, meeting timescale, quality and value requirements.

Candidate Requirements:
- You will have a Technical competency, with a relevant building qualification to support your knowledge as a Surveyor/Project Manager within Construction.
- Evidence of delivery and understanding across a wide range of technical projects such as wet rooms, lifts, ramps, extensions and other DFG works alongside experience in the diagnosis of building faults would be an advantage.
- Experience of site supervision of repair and renovation works alongside the ability to provide accurate drawings, plans, schedules of works and a good understanding of Planning (including Permitted Development) and Building Regulations processes.
- You will need the ability to use CAD and also manage external consultants if required.
- A key personal skill you will bring to the role is the ability to work collaboratively with both internal and external stakeholders. You will be a problem solver with excellent communication skills and attention to detail. The demands of the role will require you to multi-task and agree project priorities to meet deadlines.
- A full UK Driving license and your own vehicle is required.
