S&B Herba Foods Ltd are food importers, processors and market leaders in supplying the Manufacturing, Wholesale, Ethnic and Retail Sectors. We are part of the Ebro Foods Group, the largest Rice Company and second largest Pasta Company in the world.
About the Role:
We are looking for a Technical Manager to oversee a very busy Technical Department and Team of 10 individuals over 3 sites, and to ensure the company adheres to prescribed quality assurance standards, policies and procedures.
Both our factories are BRC AA standard which needs to be maintained. As we are predominantly a Rice and Rice Flour supplier, knowledge of Rice is essential. Experience in Canning and Frozen would also be beneficial. The role will be very much customer and supplier focussed with occasional travel expected to visit factories within the Group (mainly Europe) as well as UK Customers in conjunction with our Accounts Managers (to provide Technical Assistance). The successful individual will also be responsible for coordinating and managing the sustainability of the business.
This is a busy and demanding role, with customers wanting and needing more and more detailed technical information on our products. There will be communication with sister Companies within the Group as well as with Ebro Foods.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Oversee an effective Quality System for the Company to ensure that the requirements of the BRC Global Standards are met
- Ensure Company and Supplier HACCP Plans are up to date, relevant and implemented effectively by each site and for all products
- Team Leader for Company HACCP Plans
- Carry out Technical Audits of Suppliers’ factories to ensure goods are purchased from competent suppliers to ensure we meet legal and customer requirements
- Ensure Pre Audit Questionnaires are completed
- Ensure that working procedures are appropriate, documented and monitored/reviewed regularly by the Quality Managers.
- Oversee that material testing is completed and that raw material and finished product specifications/customer requirement are being met
- In conjunction with QA Auditors, ensure laboratory equipment/arrangements are appropriate and maintained to required standards
- Maintain factory status database following technical audits and supplier questionnaires to prevent purchase of goods from non-technically approved origins
- Oversee the customer complaint log
- Produce and agree technical specifications for clients as required to ensure expected standards are understood by client and customer and avoid product rejections
- Maintain and monitor a Traceability System of all products
- Provide technical advice on new legislation and advise where necessary
- Monitor and approve Certificates of Analysis/Conformance
- Maintain Sedex membership and database
- Responsible for the Company’s Crisis and Product Recall Manual
About you:
- Degree in Food Science
- Previous experience in a food manufacturing environment
- Good Commercial awareness
- Great organizational and time-management skills
- Demonstrate professionalism, confidence and motivation

- Proficiency in office software, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
