Bryans Salads are currently recruiting for a passionate, dedicated and pragmatic Technical Manager to join our rapidly expanding site in Tarleton, PR4 6LJ. Experience of dealing with fresh produce and salad is not essential but is preferred. Experience with High Care RTE products is essential.
You will be joining the Technical team to work alongside out current Technical Manager, who you’ll be working with closely on a day to day basis.

Bryans Salads Ltd is a third-generation family business based in the rural moss lands in Tarleton, Lancashire.
We predominantly specialise in washed, ready to eat sliced lettuce and salad leaf, yet we also produce high quality ready to cook vegetable packs and salad bowls, with or without added protein and vegetables, for the catering and food service industry among others.
The Bryan family have been based on the same site for nearly 60 years, initially as a farming enterprise and Bryans Salads Ltd has been in operation for over 20 years. The business has experienced exponential growth recently culminating in the recent expansion of the passionate, diligent team that the Bryan family have worked hard to create. Our teams work 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year to consistently ensure that the products our customers purchase from us are the best that money can buy.
About the role:
Our Technical Manager plays a hugely important part in our overall manufacturing operation. Our site is demanding, pacey and ever-changing – it’s our Site Technical Manager and their team that ensures Bryans standards for quality, safety, compliance, social responsibility and integrity are achieved and that our customers are confident that the products we supply are the best on the market.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:
- Overall responsibility for the quality, legality and safety of all products produced by the site.
- Managing customer accounts, dealing with queries and providing confidence through a pragmatic and proactive approach to customer service.
- Working with colleagues across the business to identify, escalate and manage risks, deal with incidents and improve processes.
- Manage site quality and compliance, external and internal audits, BRC Lead.
- Manage, develop and maintain the site HACCP plan, ensuring all CCP controls are monitored and verified.
- Oversee NPD, Hygiene and Quality departments.
- Designing, implementing and maintaining strategic technical plans for site, supporting colleagues in the ongoing continuous improvement of the sites technical plans.
- Support the development of your team and colleagues performance, and succession plan at all levels within the operation through progression and multi- skilling to ensure we deliver excellent standards of service to our customers at all times
- Ensure compliance with appropriate regulations and company standards to contribute to an outstanding product safety for our customers.
- Oversee the management of the full QMS, ensuring it is kept up to date at all times.
- Provide Technical expertise to our colleagues and customers.
- Oversee the management and monitoring of all Technical service providers, ensuring the service provided is cost effective and the best option available on the market.
Knowledge & Specific Job Skills:
Essential;
- Minimum of 2 years-experience within Technical Management
- Minimum of 2 years-experience within High Care RTE
- Experience of leading BRC v9 audits.
- Experience of supplier approval and monitoring (food, packaging, service)
- Level 4 Food Safety
- Level 4 HACCP
- Competence in Microsoft Office
- Good communicator
- Self-motivated
- Good organisational skills
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Excellent numeracy skills
Preferred;
- Experience and knowledge of fresh produce food industry
- Health and Safety experience
- Degree in a food related discipline
- Experience of working to Red Tractor, MSC and/or Organic standards
- Exposure to retailer COPs is preferred but not essential.
