Job Title: Team Leader – Mechanical Maintenance

Location: Plymouth

Salary: Starting from £35,000

Job type: Full Time

The role:

To co-ordinate, carry out and oversee all resources, related to Mechanical maintenance.

Skills and Experience required:

  • Mechanical Apprenticeship in a precision engineering environment.
  • Working with problem solving and trouble-shooting techniques.
  • Ability to use initiative.
  • Good communication, both verbal and written.
  • Has comprehensive Mechanical Machine Tool, Hydraulic & Pneumatics knowledge linked to a precision
  • engineering role, ideally in a production environment.
  • Has supervisory/team leading aptitude.
  • Has clear understanding of principal financial aspects linked to the Maintenance Department.

Key Role Requirements:

  • Lead the mechanical maintenance team on a day-to-day basis, flexing priorities between PM & mechanical breakdowns as required across the team.
  • Understand all mechanical requirements and functions of premises, machinery, plant and equipment, used by the Company, organise and participate in machine and plant moves as required.
  • Organise the allocation of mechanical work for relevant maintenance employees, assuring that such work is carried out fully in accordance with requirements of safety, quality, cost and timeliness, meeting production needs. Ensure adherence to associated procedures and ensure maintenance records are completed.
  • Participate in training and development of maintenance employees to ensure the necessary skills are fully maintained.
  • To ensure that all mechanical machinery/equipment and tooling is fully and properly maintained and available for any required use, with the minimum of delay.
  • Liaise fully with Maintenance manager and maintenance employees and any other associated
  • specialist groups/services for the prompt resolution of all problems affecting the achievement of
  • Production/Assembly objectives.
  • For all new equipment, ensure the appropriate maintenance procedures are available for use and assist in
  • co-ordinating preventative maintenance activities in general.
  • Ensure safe custody of all books, drawings, tools and equipment used to achieve the purpose of the job and approve the use of consumable store items and spare parts, advising the Maintenance Manager on stock
  • To carry out all duties and responsibilities of a Maintenance Mechanical Fitter when required.
