Contracts offered to suit you and your lifestyle: zero hour, 16, 20, 24, 30, 35, 40, 45. Overtime is not compulsory but is available above contracted hours if required.
About the Role:
We are looking for a caring, enthusiastic, compassionate, and reliable support worker to support 3 siblings with learning disabilities, living together in their own home in Redcar & Cleveland. They are all in their 30’s and enjoy life, getting out in their community and trying new things.
You will work with a small, experienced team covering some or all of the following:
- Social calls 4pm-8pm weekdays and varying times on a Saturday -supporting the siblings to places, events and activities either individually or as a family. This can include shopping, swimming, gym, meals, bowling, cinema, mini golf, playing pool, trampolining. Day trips also take place occasionally on a weekend including theme parks, zoo’s, football matches, shows, concerts
- Holiday support – Taking the siblings away for occasional short breaks with other members of the staff team
- Sleepovers (sleeping nights) – 10pm-7am on some specific evenings
- Support shifts consisting of a combination of 7am-10am and 3pm-10pm
- 24-hour support is required on a Saturday and Sunday and during school holidays. This is achieved as a result of the team working alternative weekends and the cover required being broken down into manageable shifts shared between team members on there working weekend
In addition to the above, you will support the young people with all aspects of their daily life which can include:
- Promoting independence – the siblings are very independent in some aspects of their lives, and we encourage this as much as possible
- Planning and participating in social activities
- Domestic tasks- Supporting with manging their home, encouragement with housekeeping tasks and cleaning their own bedrooms/changing their bedding etc
- Meal planning & preparation: cooking meals whilst supporting to maintain a healthy diet
- Personal care support and prompting of personal care
- Shopping: support with weekly food shopping, clothes and household shopping when required
- Managing of finances and finance planning for social events, groceries, and household items
- Appointments – supporting and advocating for their health and well-being with the doctors/dentists
- Access to attend day services, social event, shopping etc
Shifts:
- Day shift
- Night shift
- Overnight shift
About you:
- Driving license and use of own vehicle is essential for this role
- Ability to also support with calls in the community is preferred
- Experience of working with clients with learning disabilities, Makaton and an NVQ 2 in care would be beneficial but not essential. We offer a full induction program including 4 days classroom-based theory and practical training. Training covers the Care Certificate, Safeguarding, Medication, Health, and Safety and moving handling as well as many other areas
