About the role:
To work closely with, the wider student experience team, to provide student support. The role will involve supporting students with welfare and well-being needs and provide information and advice on a range of areas including courses, financial support, and college related information to learners to improve their likelihood of successful completion of their programme and progression into further/higher education, training, or employment. In addition, the post holder will be required to provide and support the range of activities to engage learners within the wider community of college life and preparation for life in society.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the work of the Student Experience team at the campus to ensure the service meets the college’s statutory duties on safeguarding, child protection and adults at risk;
- To support and assist other Student Experience staff with activities when required
- Provide proactive support to all students, working collaboratively with staff, parents/carers, and external agencies to address any barriers that may affect their experience and progress.
- Identify students who require well-being support in college
- To work with students both on a one-to-one basis and in small groups, including transition cohorts
- Provide advice and support, signposting students to both internal and external support services
- Develop and deliver appropriate Health & Well-Being resources to support student health & well-being, working with the Enrichment team.
To be successful in this role, below is what we would need from you:
- Level 3 IAG qualification/Safeguarding training or willingness to undertake these
- Experience of mentoring or coaching
- Experience of working with employers, voluntary organisations, or agencies
- Experience of working with young people 16-19 in an educational setting
- The ability to deal with challenging behaviours and situations in a calm and professional manner
- Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding issues and procedures
