Job Title: Student Support Manager

Location: Wolverhampton

Salary: £30k – £45k per annum DOE

Job Type: Permanent, Full-time

Job Outline & Purpose

  • To manage standards of SEND and student support across the organisation
  • To manage the staff training and development function for Safeguarding, SEND, E&D and Support, including development of staff skills and knowledge of appropriate strategies, support and barrier interventions
  • To contribute to improving performance, achievement and quality of delivery
  • To ensure effective support results in parity of attendance, retention & outcomes for all students
  • To shape and drive the SEND, Safeguarding H&S, and E&D policies
  • To manage the safeguarding of the welfare of all students, preventing radicalisation and promoting British Values

Management

  • Management of Safeguarding and SEND across the organisation
  • Management of SEND
  • Line Manage the Deputy Safeguarding Lead, Student Support Specialist & Company Counsellor for Juniper, ensuring that they are meeting all their requirements and targets
  • Manage student support and access arrangements made for assessment and exams, in line with awarding body guidelines and requirements
  • Keeping up to date with local and national developments and changes in SEND

Delivery

  • To provide effective advice and guidance to staff in dealing with student issues
  • Recommend useful support resources
  • Ensure effective screening tools and resources are in place to diagnose learning differences
  • Ensure engaging, multi-sensory and innovative lesson and resources are in place, with E&D, personal development, behaviour and attitudes and Safeguarding themes fully embedded into the curriculum

HR

  • Maintain and develop policies and processes relating to Safeguarding, E&D, Health & Safety and SEND and ensure successful implementation
  • To continuously develop the staff induction programme, monitoring progress made and providing training to support identified needs
  • Monitor effectiveness of staff training sessions & make recommendations as appropriate
  • Develop use of Cascade to maximise effectiveness
  • Support Juniper’s HR department to carry out investigations in matters relating to student support and safeguarding; writing investigation reports and making recommendations

Training & Development

  • Develop own knowledge to ensure compliance and awareness of current developments and good practice in relation to SEND, Safeguarding, E&D and Health & Safety
  • Source and recommend effective external staff qualifications & training relating to SEND, Safeguarding, E&D and Health and Safety
  • To deliver high quality training and workshop sessions to new and existing staff to develop their knowledge of Health and Safety, E&D, Safeguarding and personal development, behaviour and attitudes
  • To provide robust training & development for centre staff to support students with appropriate interventions to identified barriers, including SEND, drug/alcohol abuse, behavioural disorders, in order to improve standards of delivery, retention and support offered across the company
  • To contribute to the organisation and delivery of Company Training Days
  • Ensure student attendance & retention targets are met, with absences robustly followed up
  • Support the Curriculum Team to develop and implement the personal development curriculum, across the various provision types and pathways
