Job Title: Strategic Procurement Manager
Location: Colchester
Salary: £37,068 – £42,472 per annum + exceptional benefits
Job Type: Full Time, Permanent (37 hour per week)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Strategic Procurement Manager within the organisation. This is a newly created management position with the key role of fundamentally transforming the Council’s procurement strategy, contract management, and purchasing processes.
The Council is committed to providing value for money for our residents and businesses, as well as prioritising the Climate Emergency, wider social value and supporting our local businesses.
As such we are looking for a candidate with experience in procurement, leadership and management. We are looking for a professional who will successfully work across multi-disciplined areas, supporting managers of all levels to achieve savings and better-quality products and services.
The role:
Your role will be to strategically position, lead and manage the procurement and purchasing functions within the council, leading on all aspects of spend from significant contract and price negotiation through end-to-end tendering processes to lower-level purchasing.
You’ll need to create new and innovative procurement opportunities and models that drive cost reduction, risk management and relationship value to the organisation.
You will also provide direct support for strategic and commercial projects which entail high risk and spend
About you:
- Experience in procurement with an understanding of public sector finance
- Solid track record of achieving cost reductions
- Ability to identify and implement improvements
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organisational and problem solving skills
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, with awareness of deadlines
- Excellent negotiation skills
