What we are looking for:
We are looking for a self-motivated Registered Nurse who is passionate about developing the skills and knowledge of care staff to deliver and promote person centered care. If you are committed to delivering and maintaining high standards of practice, this could be an ideal opportunity for you.
The Role:
- Carry out all Nursing duties in a professional manner and in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Code of Conduct to ensure safe clinical practice and high standards of quality care are delivered which meet all legislative requirements.
- Follow all Blind Veterans UK policies and procedures and assist in developing and reviewing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
- Work as part of a team assessing and formulating individual person-centred care plans, in consultation with members and other beneficiaries, family members and any other relevant agencies to ensure the best possible care is provided to all members and other beneficiaries.
- Supervise Health Care Assistants/Care leads in all aspects of the care they deliver by direct observation, appraisals and supervision providing feedback to ensure consistent high standards of care.
- To lead the shift, Nurse in charge.
- Support and empower all care staff, to enhance knowledge and skills. in all areas of healthcare ie personal care, medications, activities
- Support members and staff, with activities, to enable the member to lead a fulfilled and purposeful life.
- Report any safeguarding concerns, such as neglect of care or improper conduct that could adversely affect the health, safety or welfare of members and other beneficiaries or co-workers to the Safeguarding Lead (Care Manager)
- Maintain accurate, contemporaneous records and documentation, both paper and using PCS system, to meet statutory requirements.
- Ensure that you are proactive in supervisions and appraisals, and all audits and care plans are updated and completed in a timely fashion.
- Proactively promote a collaborative learning and supportive culture and take an active role leading a group as a ‘Champion’
- Promote internal and external multidisciplinary team (MDT) working to ensure member’s needs are met and be able to delegate tasks as required
- Ensure a professional, information-based handover
- Ensure safe effective infection control procedures are followed at all times
- Be designated Named Nurse for permanent members
The Candidate:
To perform Nursing duties and provide holistic person-centred Nursing care, including overseeing the care provided by Health Care Assistants and Care Leads for members.
To support the Care Department, sharing knowledge, skills and resources.
