The Role:
SYNLAB UK is seeking to recruit a Band 6 Biomedical Scientist to join our Stem Cells team, within the Blood Sciences department at The Christie Pathology Partnership.
Duties include:
All duties must be carried out in accordance with written departmental Policies and Standard Operating Procedures.
- To take part in the processing, issuing and cryopreservation of Human Progenitor Cells (HPC) and T Cells for use in transplants, cellular therapy and for clinical trials.
- To take part in the analysis of samples for CD34+ and CD3+ viabilities.
- To liaise with the rest of the stem cell team, nursing staff and the FACS operators.
- To carry out and produce reports on audits and validations according to the schedules.
- To review SOP’s and other documents under the quality system.
- To process documentation in accordance with the quality system.
The Department provides laboratory support as an integral part of the HTA and JACIE accredited Stem cell and Bone Marrow transplant programme, a large and well-established clinical trials programme and for cellular therapy including CAR-T cells.
Candidates wishing to apply must be an HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist. We welcome applications from existing Band 6s or those who have completed or are close to completing their specialist portfolios as a Band 5.
Full training will be given but experience of working in a Cellular Therapy laboratory, or of Flow Cytometry would be an advantage.
Well-developed interpersonal and team working skills are also required.
