Job title: Software Support Specialist
Location: Odiham, Hampshire
Salary: £20,000 – £25,000 depending on experience
Hours: Full time, Permanent
The company is a small and fast-growing computer software business based in Odiham who specialise in and sell software products for stock control and warehouse management, and now have an exciting opportunity for a Software Support Specialist to join their team.
The Role:
To provide technical advice and assistance to customers to ensure effective installation of the company’s software products. You will have excellent opportunity to demonstrate your technical, communication, and team skills every day.
Main Duties:
Software Installation / Technical Support
- Assist customers in becoming familiar with and understanding their product and its capabilities
- Provide remote support and address technical issues on the company’s software products
- Install their applications remotely and carry out testing of the application
- Demonstrate product functionality to customers
- Arrange conference calls, meetings, and updates
- Advise on any updates to the system
- Testing updates prior to deployment
Project Management
- Keep abreast of all on-going projects (there could be 10 to 15 active at any one time). Projects are detailed in the project management software, Basecamp
- Identify any potential problems or hold ups on the customer side
- Liaise with the customer as required and flag up any issues or sales opportunities
- Maintain records in Basecamp as required. This is the responsibility of all, including programmers
Key Requirements:
Skills / Qualifications
- The ideal candidate will have either on the job experience or a degree in Computer Science (or similar field)
- Comfortable with basic computer technology and able to install and support complex applications gained through experience in a similar role or relevant IT qualification
- A technical Microsoft qualification in MS Server Operating Systems (or similar) desirable
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and an ability to write simple queries desirable
- Software testing knowledge and/or experience desirable
- Knowledge of basic business processes e.g. Sales Order Processing and Purchase Order Processing
- Effective problem-solving skills
- Computer literate, including Microsoft Office
- Basic knowledge of accounting processes desirable
- Full, clean UK driving license is preferred
