With nearly four million visitors to the Tower of London each year and in the region of seven million people that use the Wharf each year, the security provision at this iconic World Heritage site is paramount.
Role Overview:
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Site Security Manager to lead and develop their security and operations team to ensure the provision of a safe and secure environment for all visitors, staff and residents of HM Tower of London. Reporting to the Chief Security Officer, you will work in conjunction with a number of other security and operations teams, such as their Control Room, the Yeoman Body, Admissions, and the Warding Team for the Jewel House and White Tower, building robust and lasting relationships to assist the team in delivering a secure environment for all and a royal welcome for visitors at all times.
As a strong leader, you will proactively manage the security team responsible for patrols and bag searches as well as pedestrian, vehicle activity along the perimeter of the Tower of London. You will also manage the business reception team who are responsible for meeting and greeting all visitors to the Tower of London. Ensuring that professional security standards are constantly delivered is of the utmost priority. You will be responsible for maintaining equipment such as security pass systems as well as records and rosters. You will ensure that the team are trained to the highest level and all policies, procedures and operational requirements are understood and consistently followed at all times.
The Candidate:
Applicants must have proven experience in leading and managing a team as well as security and operational management. Excellent interpersonal skills are essential in this role as is a resilient and determined approach. Experience in a similar role with an excellent working knowledge/passion for security best practice, security equipment and systems, health and safety and fire knowledge is essential. The ideal candidate will ideally come from a similar visitor attraction or historic property and have a thorough understanding of managing the security operation on this scale as well as conservation principles of a historic property.
This role will involve working a combination of days and nights in order to support all shifts as well as occasional weekend working.
