The Newark and Nottinghamshire Agricultural Society (NNAS) is a registered Charity whose primary objective is to support, champion and promote agriculture throughout Nottinghamshire and the East Midlands region.
NNAS also owns Newark Showground and operates a busy trading subsidiary to generate income in support of its charitable activities. The site hosts over 500 events each year including festivals, exhibitions, conferences, banquets, weddings, meetings and a wide variety of specialist activities in 10 different exhibition and meeting venues across the 128 acre site.
About the role:
NNAS is now seeking a Site Operations & Facilities Manager with a strong operational background, at a management level. Ideally with broad experience of team management, health & safety, logistics and customer support. A knowledge of facilities management plus grounds and site maintenance experience would also be useful.
Leading a small but busy and flexible Grounds & Event Support team, you will be responsible for the ongoing maintenance of the site and both routine and project-based asset management, preparation of exhibition facilities for use by customers, logistical support including traffic management and security, compliance with legislative policy including training and risk assessments, liaison with suppliers and contractors and overall responsibility for Health & Safety across the Showground.
This is a hands-on role, to lead an established team as it continues to develop the strong levels of support it already provides and, working as part of the senior management group, to provide a consistent quality of facilities and support to other departments and customers.
About you:
- Have experience managing a multi focused team
- Be highly organised, proactive and enthusiastic, having a methodical approach with a keen eye for detail and standards
- Possess a “can do” attitude to work with an ability to adapt to change and balance a variety of key tasks at a given time
- The ability to work under pressure, to organise and prioritise effectively, be flexible and have a commitment to do everything that is required to get the job done
- Have excellent communication skills with the ability to build rapport and positive relationships with customers and colleagues
- Be keen to support, train and develop staff and to ensure appropriate policies and procedures are in place and that legislative and best practice requirements are being complied with across the operation
- Strong knowledge of Health & Safety working practices (COSHH, RIDDOR, Risk Assessments, Fire Procedures, Event Safety Panning, Bio Security, Insurance etc) including assessment and compliance

Please note: The position is primarily based at Newark Showground, however, travel to customer, supplier and other locations may be required on a periodic basis. The role is based on an annual hour’s contract and will include some work during the day time, evenings and weekends.
