Job Title: Site Groundsman

Location: Cambridge

Salary: £32,858.58 per annum

Job type: Permanent, Full-time

Working Hours: 47.5 Hours Per Week

Envar is a producer and supplier of high quality soil improver, woodland garden mulch, wood chip and biomass. We operate green waste composting sites across England with sites in Surrey, Northamptonshire, West London, Essex, Kent and Suffolk as well as our flagship site in Cambridgeshire where we also process food waste.

About the role:

To ensure the upkeep and maintenance of a facility grounds, to ensure its safe and efficient operations. This may include carrying out corrective and preventive maintenance, responding to fast paced situations, troubleshooting problems, and performing inspections to identify and address any potential problems.

The site groundsman is also responsible for maintaining equipment, performing minor repairs, and ensuring a good housekeeping of the site as well as maintaining landscapes to ensure areas are safe to work in.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspect facilities and landscapes to maintain a clear area of work
  • Carry out minor repairs to facilities, equipment and furniture
  • Maintain records of maintenance activities and tasks
  • Ascertain operational parts and arrange collection
  • Machine operating once tickets obtained (clamp/fork truck, telehandler)
  • Maintaining grounds (hedge cutting, grass cutting, weeding etc)
  • Assisting engineering department with minor tasks
  • Pest control
  • Data Recording using site equipment
  • Staff have a duty to take care of their own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by their actions at work.
  • Staff must co-operate, report unsafe conditions and comply with the company management systems and safe systems of work as well as co-workers to help everyone meet their legal requirements.

About you:

Essential:

  • Good knowledge of general building maintenance
  • Ability to use tools and machines safely and efficiently
  • Maintain records of maintenance activities and tasks
  • Good communication, organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Full UK driving license
  • Able to use tools such as power tools, measuring tools and hand tools
  • Ability to work independently
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Good multitasking and organizational skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Knowledge of health and safety requirements

Desirable:

  • 1-2 years previous experience or from translatable roles
  • IPAF Training
  • ECS Working Skills Card
  • Asbestos Awareness
