The Role:
To service, test, examine, diagnose, install, maintain and repair electrical and mechanical plant machinery and equipment / fixtures to ensure the efficient operation of our factories and offices.
To ensure that all equipment on the production floor is maintained to the highest standard possible.
Provide preventative and breakdown maintenance when required.
Essential Duties:
- Complete fault-finding using test equipment and replace worn parts and faulty equipment.
- Preventative maintenance and repairs for all equipment and assets associated with production including 24/7 support when volume or needs dictate regarding equipment maintenance.
- Perform routine servicing activities.
- Liaise with Engineering Manager on priority issues and plan corrective actions.
- Maintain engineering systems.
- Maintain a safe, clean and tidy work environment by adhering to all food safety standards and other controls to minimise risk.
- Attend regular team meetings or training as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Must have knowledge of machines and tools to include electrical/pneumatic and schematic drawings/designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
- Ability to apply mastery of skills in adapting procedures, techniques, tools, materials and/or equipment, as appropriate.
- Knowledge of the proper repair procedures for various maintenance jobs.
- Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding experience using a variety of techniques including use of a multi meter.
- Experience of wiring 3 phase motor controls, replacing inverters, contactors, relays, sensors etc.
- Ability to bring a task to closure.
- Critical thinking skills.
- Knowledge of safety procedures, processes and guidelines.
- Ability to work independently.
- Organizational skills.
- Attention to Detail.
- Strong communication skills – must be able to converse easily in English at a Technical level.
- Ability to be flexible/multi-task based on workflow demands.
Education and Experience:
- Time served Electrical Apprenticeship or hold an Engineering specific qualification gained from registered college or university.
- Have experience of machinery maintenance ideally within FMCG manufacturing.
- Strong experience gained in a fast-paced production environment with a strong electrical and mechanical background.
- Ability to work designated shift including overtime as required, which could include time before or after the designated shift and/or weekends.
Essential Physical Demands:
- Ability to walk and stand continuously during the assigned shift.
- Ability to grip/grasp continuously during the assigned shift.
- Ability to lift, bend, squat/kneel, twist/turn, climb, crawl, reach above shoulder, and type/keyboard frequently during the assigned shift.
- Ability to work designated shift including overtime as required, which could include time before or after the designated shift and/or weekends.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, colour vision.
