Job Type: Permanent/Full Time – Approximately 40 hours per week
Knepp is a 3,500 acre estate devoted to a pioneering rewilding project. Using grazing animals as the drivers of habitat creation, and with the restoration of dynamic, natural water courses, the project has seen extraordinary increases in wildlife.
As part of this project, Knepp has created a butchery, producing award-winning beef, venison and pork from excess animals raised in the rewilding project. As part of this new venture, the restaurant is able to showcase the best quality, wild range, organic meat, as well as produce from our new 3-acre organic market garden. Our aim is to create one of the most exciting and sustainable culinary locations in Britain, with a dedicated local and national following.
In August 2023, Knepp rewilding Project opens its door to its new site, The Wilding Kitchen and Shop, a restaurant, café and shop that puts sustainability at it’s core. We are looking for an engaging and passionate Shop Manager to join our team. Set in the heart of the UK’s most successful rewilding project with over 60 thousand visitors a year coming through our doors, the shop will offer a mixture of beautiful organic produce grown on site, sustainable ingredients, rewilding inspired gifts, as well as products to inspire a more nature focused way of living. Main Responsibilities:
- Managing a small team of shop assistants
- Replenishing stock, liaising with suppliers and our sourcing team to maintain orders in line with demand
- Managing of stock, overseeing stock rotations, deliveries, and organising of storage and displays.
- Working with our sourcing team and designer to collate stock forecasts
- Ensure wastage is kept to a minimum, closely monitoring short-dated stock, and liaising with the kitchen to utilise fresh stock that doesn’t sell.
- Maintaining beautiful and organised shop displays
- Maximise and grow sales in the farm shop through effective and inspiration leadership of your team, ensuring delivery of excellent customer service
About you:
We are looking for an individual with previous management experience who understands customer service. The ideal candidate will have:
- Positive can-do attitude, proactive and an eye for detail
- Excellent time management and planning skills
- Natural leadership skills
- A passion for sustainability and produce
Experience:
- Retail sales: 3 years (preferred)
- Supervising experience: 3 years (preferred)
- Customer service: 3 years (preferred)
- Retail management: 3 years (preferred)
- Management: 3 years (preferred)
Licence/Certification:
- Driving Licence (preferred)
