Job Title: Senior Lecturer in Skills and Simulation

Location: Birmingham

Salary: £39,739 – £50,296 per annum – AC3.

An opportunity has arisen for an innovative individual to join the Department of Health as a Senior Lecturer in Skills and Simulation. You will be responsible for the management and development of the skills and simulation features within programmes for the Nursing Degree (adult), Nursing Associate Foundation Degree, and a range of healthcare apprenticeships. In addition, you will support the Physiotherapy Degree programme team to expand the use of simulation within their programmes. Our portfolio in health is continuing to grow and we will expect the successful candidate to ensure that simulation is a key feature in all current and future provision.

The Role:

The role will be varied and at Senior Lecturer Level will involve embedding a vision for simulation-based education alongside leadership responsibilities; which will include planning, design of teaching, in addition to making wider contributions with practice partners, employer partners and internal and external activity associated with the Department and University.

You will be working with an outstanding team of nursing, physiotherapy and health lecturers in our state-of-the-art skills and simulation facilities that includes a fully equipped 6 bedded hospital ward, immersive technologies 360-degree video room, community care room, skills training spaces, anatomy rooms and physiotherapy clinic spaces.

Candidate Requirements:

You will be a current nurse registrant with the NMC or HCPC registered, have expertise in engaging in simulation-based education with sound pedagogical foundations and be able to offer inspirational learning and teaching to students, as well as supporting other teaching staff in the development of their simulation skills. The successful candidate will need to be motivated, proactive and engage with collaborative working both as a team and with wider partners.

It is essential that the post-holder has experience of using simulation mannequins, part-task trainers, and Virtual Reality equipment.
