The role:
We are seeking a passionate, skilled, and motivated Senior Networks Engineer to join our dynamic ICT team. As a Senior Networks Engineer, you will design, implement and maintain the organisations network infrastructure. The ICT Senior Networks Engineer will provide the technical resources necessary to support business continuity for a 24/7 emergency policing service and its external partners, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth functioning of our ICT infrastructure and providing technical assistance to our staff.
Responsibilities:
- Design implement and maintain switches, routers, firewalls and other networking equipment.
- Optimise network performance and ensure high availability.
- Monitor the network usage, discuss network requirements with stakeholders and recommend and implement network upgrades and enhancements.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues, collaborating with other ICT teams and external vendors when necessary.
- To ensure the reliability of our High Availability services.
- Conduct network assessments and audits to identify vulnerabilities and recommend and implement necessary security measures.
- Manage network documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, and procedures.
- Collaborate with cross functional teams to plan, implement and support network related projects.
Requirements:
- Must possess any of the following:
- A bachelor’s degree in an ICT related subject
- Cisco Certification
- Demonstratable equivalent skills or experience in networking
- Proven experience as an ICT Senior Networks Engineer or in a similar role.
- In depth knowledge of network protocols, routing, VLANS, VPN, Firewalls and other networking technologies.
- Must have experience of designing, installing, and managing an on-premise network infrastructure including layer 2 and 3 switching and routing.
- Strong understanding of network security principles and best practices.
- Hands on experience with network management tools and network troubleshooting utilities.
- Must demonstrate in-depth understanding of datacentre network architectures, ICT disaster recovery strategies, and LAN / WLAN / WAN / Wi-Fi / MPLS / SD-Access networking technologies.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex network issues.
