Senior Housing Management Worker

Location: Huntingdon

Salary: £23,793 per year.

Job type: Full-time, Permanent. Shift rota covering 08:00 to 21:00 including weekends.

Amicus Trust has been supporting the homeless community since its origins as a soup kitchen in 1974; our mission is to ensure everyone has a life free from homelessness and a place in their community.

We are here for individuals between the ages of 16 – 65 who are rough sleeping, considered homeless or at risk of homelessness. Individuals may or may not have a range of complex needs including mental health issues, ex-offending, alcohol dependency, early life trauma or family breakdown.

We also provide dedicated properties for single homeless veterans.

The Role:

To ensure the efficient and effective management of the supported housing stock. To liaise on a regularly basis and to ensure staff work consistently and to a high standard in the delivery of services.

Duties include:

  • Be responsible for the new residents’ application process, for managing referrals and ensuring accurate records are maintained by all staff within the project.
  • Be responsible for the resolving of problems and discrepancies with residents on housing benefit and other social benefits.
  • Ensuring that the staff team deliver an efficient and effective service:
  • Lead staff in writing, implementing and reviewing personal development programmes which reflect the interests and wishes of the reside
  • Responsibility for ensuring that Amicus Trust Limited’s policies and procedure are followed:
  • Ensure that the relevant individuals are sought for guidance prior to any Notice to Vacate being issued and that procedures are followed correctly.
  • Ensure staff are fully conversant with Policies and Procedures and that any new policies and procedures are implemented with the team.
  • Responsible for ensuring an efficient and effective administration of the accommodation.
  • Responsible for managing the basic day to day IT issues within the accommodation
  • Ensure that financial records are maintained according to procedures.
  • To ensure staff are on site and available 24/7 if applicable.
  • Provide reporting systems as required and to deadline.
  • Operate within Amicus Trust Limited’s policies.

Key Skills Required:

Education –

  • ‘A’ level or equivalent. (Desirable)
  • NVQ Level 3/4 in Social Care Qualification or working towards or equivalent. (Essential)

Work Experience –

  • 2 years’ experience in a senior role. (Essential)
  • 1 years’ experience of working with vulnerable people. (Desirable)
  • Experience or Knowledge of Supporting People, Housing Benefits etc. (Desirable)
  • Experience of motivating and building an effective team of staff. (Essential)
  • Experience of working within boundaries, appreciating the importance of confidentiality. (Essential)

Special Skills –

  • Good communication skills both verbally and in writing. (Essential)
  • Ability to write clear and concise reports. (Essential)
  • Good IT Skills. (Essential)
  • Ability to organise and prioritise workload. (Essential)
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines. (Essential)
  • Capable of working on own initiative and as part of a team. (Essential)

Extra Information:

  • Use of a car is necessary due to visiting a number of properties across Leicester
  • A satisfactory Enhanced Vulnerable Adults DBS check is required (cost met by Amicus Trust)
  • Full new starter induction will be provided
  • 6 months’ probation period is in effect
  • Mileage contribution 40 pence per mile
  • Time off in lieu is offered

  • Entitled to sick pay after a qualifying period
