Job Title: Senior Estimator

Dempsey Dyer is a window and door manufacturer based in Pontefract, West Yorkshire.
The Senior Estimator’s role is to lead estimates for window & door works in accordance with Company estimating systems and procedures, working with other members of tender teams to develop customer solutions and secure sufficient work by value, type and margin to meet the company’s objectives.
Requirements:
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience as an Estimator in the window & door construction industry
- A good understanding of the JCT contract and how to protect the business from excessive contractual risk:
- Project Overruns
- Material increase
- Overhead remeasure
- Using the Scope of Works to define responsibility
- Handover of goods
- Vesting agreements
- To allow DD to manufacture goods when planned and not subject to site delays
- No survey
- Ability to closely collaborate with other project teams and stakeholders.
- Excellent research, proposal writing, and oral presentation skills.
- Extensive knowledge of best industry practices and standards.
- Ability to travel extensively and perform site visits.
- A full understanding of building regulations and how to design product to meet these requirements
Responsibilities:
- Manage relationships with key clients to win repeat business
- Ensure sales targets are achieved
- Research construction documents and analyse specifications.
- Determine the total cost of materials, equipment, and labour for window & door tender packages
- Prepare estimates using Company estimating systems and procedures
- Managing pre-qualification and pre-bid submissions.
- Secure the best deals are secured with suppliers and subcontractors getting fixed price agreements for the contract duration
- Ensure that relevant documents and budgets are submitted before a bid deadline.
- Regularly reporting to Management and keeping clients updated on the project status.
- Ensure all tenders submitted are fit for purpose meeting all necessary design criteria
