Job Outline & Purpose
- To build and maintain good relationships with the local authority
- To assist the SEND Tutor to provide excellent support and CEIAG to students with EHCPs
- To assist the SEND Tutor to deliver good quality of education to groups of students with SEND
- To assist the SEND Tutor to mark, assess and provide constructive feedback on students’ work
- Contribute towards ensuring excellent student attendance, retention & behaviour
- To safeguard the welfare of all students, preventing radicalisation and promoting British Values
Training
- To assist the SEND Tutor to organise reasonable adjustments and equipment in line with students’ EHCPs
- To assist the SEND Tutor to facilitate and support progress towards outcomes detailed in students’ EHCPs
- To assist the SEND Tutor to plan delivery and support students in lessons to meet criteria and standards for vocational and employability qualifications, as well as the students’ individual needs
- To assist the SEND Tutor and support students with enterprise/community projects
- To assist the SEND Tutor in their delivery of group training sessions to high needs students, so that students develop their knowledge, skills and behaviours (KSBs).
- To assist the SEND Tutor to engage external speakers (employers, business people, progression and support agencies) in order to enhance the learning experience
- To assist the SEND Tutor to arrange and facilitate motivational visits/activities
- To ensure that students work skills are developed and that they are ready for working life, or further learning, by the time they leave Juniper
- To provide 1-1/small group support/interventions to ensure learners are making good progress towards outcomes
Assessment
- To support the SEND Tutor in carrying out initial assessment activities to identify individual needs, and contribute to the development of comprehensive Support Plans, to ensure that students are well-supported and achieve their development and learning goals
- To participate in EHCP Annual Reviews; working effectively with other agencies and parents/guardians to provide excellent support to students
- To assist the SEND Tutor to mark and assess students work and develop students’ spelling, punctuation and grammar (SPaG) skills
- To assist the SEND Tutor to conduct and document meaningful student reviews, as per procedures, so that students understand the progress they are making and how they can develop their KSBs further
- Invigilate exams, as appropriate
- To assist the SEND Tutor to apply for access arrangements for students’ assessment and exams, in line with awarding body guidelines and requirements
Administration
- To complete all required documentation in accordance with laid down procedures to meet both contractual and internal requirements
Attendance/Retention
- Ensure that student attendance & retention targets are met, with absences robustly followed up
Targets
- To achieve targets to meet contractual/Dashboard obligations
Abilities
- Sound understanding of student needs, barriers and effective interventions
- Knowledge and experience of standards in SEND, safeguarding and E&D
- To support delivery of effective training sessions to groups
- Excellent communicator
