About us:
SERVE is a charity established in 1981, registered as a charity in 1995, and based in Rushden, Northamptonshire. We support the North Northamptonshire residents as well as lead on Countywide Projects to reduce isolation amongst the Older Person’s population. About the Role:
The role of scheduler is to allocate transport journeys to volunteer drivers in a consistent manner using the Transport Software provided. Riving responsibilities to take place to cover lack of capacity.
This is a 2-year fixed term contract with possibility of becoming permanent.
The role is Monday to Friday – 8.30AM TO 4.30PM
Key responsibilities:
- Develop an effective and efficient rostering system
- Take transportation bookings over the phone in reception or through our online platform
- Allocate journeys to volunteer drivers who use their own vehicles or SERVE’s fleet vehicles in a timely manner
- Communicate effectively with the beneficiaries and volunteers and assist with queries on disabled access
- Liaise with the Transport Manager to ensure volunteers have appropriate training on the vehicles and supporting disabled beneficiaries
- Ensure records of beneficiaries and volunteers are accurate, up-to-date and stored in line with data protection legislation
- Carry out any other duties consistent with the responsibilities of this post
- Drive the minibus/WAV as required
About you:
The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic and confident person with the ability to develop and maintain relationships with a wide variety of people.
Required:
- Experience working in workforce management, logistics or analytics (or similar environment)
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment
- Experience of scheduling rotas
- Experience of Microsoft Office software and computer literate
Desired:
- Experience and/or understanding of Community Transport and the importance of accessible travel
- Experience of working with people with disabilities
- Experience working within a voluntary organisation
- Personal experience of volunteering
Skills Criteria:
- Excellent IT skills, Microsoft 365 knowledge
- Experienced with using different scheduling software packages
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent telephone, verbal and written skills
- Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
- Must be willing to have an enhanced DBS check through the Disclosure and Barring Service
- Able to drive the WAV and support volunteers – Driver’s License Required
- D1 on drivers licence is desirable
