The Company:
We are a family-owned automation specialist in the disciplines of motion control, flow control and sensor applications. We offer one of the widest ranges of servo and motion control products and have been active in the market since 1985.
Motor Technology is the UK agent for a number of well-known and trusted manufacturers from Europe and around the world.
MOTION – Servo and stepper drives and motors, direct drive motors, motion controllers, precision planetary and worm gearboxes and precision couplings form the basis of our product offering and the solutions we provide.
SENSING – we also represent a Germany manufacturer of incremental and absolute encoders, kit-encoders, and sensors for harsh environments.
FLOW – The FLOW part of our business covers the products from a Japanese manufacturer of precision pumps, which we cover the whole of Europe for.
We believe in offering customers the support they require which can range from simple specification of a single component to designing turn-key motion control systems.
We are looking to fill the position of Sales Engineer long term and there is a lot of potential for the right candidate to become part of a close-knit team and grow with the company.
Job Role:
Main activities and skillset include, but are not limited to:
Initial Contact with Prospects
- Qualify prospects in both technical and commercial capabilities, in particular experience in the automation genre.
- Determine customer project status eg. Technical and Commercial viability.
- Identify key personnel and build relationships on and off site.
Customer project development
- Identifying Project parameters such as Life of the project, quantities, prototype information, development road map.
- Extract application data and assist with following:
- Understanding all aspects of the application in terms of functionality, safety, and environment
- Identifying correct motion control, drive, and feedback options for the application.
- Accurately dimensioning drives, servomotors for the application.
- Determining and agreeing the scope of supply.
- Assist with commissioning of product supplied, mostly on site
Customer service and support
- Use of tools such as Teams, Team Viewer for initial support.
- On or off-site trouble shooting.
- Developing relationships with suppliers.
- Training and personal development.
About you :
- Although not an absolute requirement, you will hold a HNC or higher qualification in a mechanical discipline.
- You will have significant experience with servo & motion control systems or experience in an engineering support role.
- You will have experience in working in some of the following phases of an engineering project, design, test, programming, installation and commissioning.
- You will have a good understanding of the regulatory requirements for the design and build of drive and motion control systems.
- You will have previous experience using Microsoft office.
- A second language, especially German and/or Italian, would be considered a bonus. Clean driving licence.
- Eager to travel.
- Candidates ideally within 1 – 1.5 Hours radius from Stockport, however this is not essential.
