The Company:
SMC Pneumatics is based in Milton Keynes, with a well-established 14-acre site. UK customers benefit from quicker delivery and customised product options where required because many SMC products are finished or assembled by hand in the Milton Keynes facility.
In addition to the 230 staff based in Milton Keynes, SMC also has a nationwide sales team of around 120 technically trained sales engineers.
Thanks to excellent relationships with 50 regional and national distributors, SMC products are available from 750 trade counters across the entire UK. This means that customers can purchase SMC components in a way that suits them best.

About the role:
We are looking for a driven individual to join the team in maintaining existing business within the OEM customer base, develop these and target any competitor business we don’t currently have. The right candidate would be tasked with looking for new business that we are currently unaware of in the form of new accounts as well as target competitor business and work with distributors in accounts currently managed by the distributors.
Essential Requirements:
- Previous experience in generating and converting prospects into Sales, ideally in the same/similar industry or similar sector.
- Customer negotiation skills.
- Proactive nature to sales.
- Strong communications skills.
- Good attention to detail.
- Basic Knowledge of word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
Desirable Skills and Qualifications:
- Background in engineering or technical environment would be advantageous.
- Basic marketing communications experience.
- Problem-solving abilities.
The Candidate:
- A proven understanding of automation products and components ideally developed within fields such as automation, manufacturing, consumer good and automotive sector.
- Organised, approachable, dependable, and willing to go the extra mile.
- Organised, able to prioritise workload with the ability to work under pressure.
- Good attention to detail.
