Job Title: Residential Support Worker
Location: Bromyard, Herefordshire, HR7 4LS
Salary: £17,628.00 – £19,851.00 per year plus 30 days paid annual leave
Hours: Full Time, Permanent
This School in Herefordshire provides individualised care and education programmes for children and young people aged 11 to 19 years, with severe learning disabilities, autism and challenging behaviour.
The aim is to provide a safe and nurturing environment, along with the tools needed to enable the residents to reach their academic potential while also focusing on teaching life skills that will support them throughout their life.
The school plans a range of activities for their young people, this has included fitness classes, a canal boat trip, sports day and the school prom.
The Role:
The school is looking to recruit full time Residential Support Workers to assist their residents within the school as well as in the home environment. They are seeking individuals who are passionate about promoting independence and providing the best care possible.
Key Responsibilities:
- To help maximise the potential capabilities of all young people at Rowden House School – physically, intellectually, emotionally and socially
- To provide choice wherever possible and enable young people to make their own decisions as appropriate
- To work with and follow professional advice and known alternative communication strategies to enable all young people to have ‘a voice’
- To work within bespoke and individualised packages of care to provide the best possible outcomes for young people

- The ability to work under pressure in challenging circumstances
- The ability to work on one’s own initiative and as part of a committed team
- Knowledge and understanding of what the role involves and a clear appreciation of its challenges and its rewards
- An ability to identify and undertake any training necessary to develop within the role

Education & Qualifications
- A good standard of written and verbal communication
- A valid current driving licence
- Basic ICT skills
