Job Title: Support Worker
Location: Duffield, Derbyshire, DE56 4AQ
Salary: £18,505.50 – £20,436.00 per annum depending on experience / qualifications
Job Type: Full Time, Permanent
Hours: 37.50 hours, 3-week rolling rota. You will be required to work a rostered shift pattern inclusive of some evening and weekend work. (Early: 7:30am – 3:00pm, Late: 2:30pm – 10:00pm)
Ecclesbourne Lodge is a residential home for people with complex difficulties and challenges that require specialised ‘person centred’ support in a caring yet productive environment. Residents are able to learn practical life skills and take part in a range of community and home-based activities, enabling their progress and transition towards a more independent life.
The Role:
As the role of Ecclesbourne Lodge is to prepare young adults placed with us to go on to live with support in the community. We support young adults to live, socialise and form positive relationships with others. We do this by offering the young adults’ opportunities to socialise and develop friendships with other young people at Ecclesbourne Lodge, as well as encouraging and supporting young adults to engage in as many community activities as possible.
Responsibilities:
- To provide a Person-Centred Approach in supporting all Residents in reaching their personal goals and achievements.
- To provide full support to all Residents in accordance with the values and philosophy of care at Ecclesbourne Lodge.
- To ensure Residents lead active and full lives
- Enabling and facilitating on and off-site activities
About you:
Essential criteria
- Good sense of humour
- Calm and even tempered
- A valid current driving licence
- A good standard of written and verbal communication.
- Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
- To have a commitment to and an understanding of the care of those with learning difficulties and challenging behaviours.
- A natural respect for the dignity and individuality of residents. Show commitment to equality of opportunity at all times and have due respect for the diverse make up of colleagues and those in our care.
- The ability to work under pressure in challenging circumstances.
- The ability to work on one’s own initiative and as part of a committed team.
- Knowledge and understanding of what the role involves and a clear appreciation of its challenges and its rewards.
- An ability to identify and undertake any training necessary to develop within the role.
Desirable criteria
- Previous experience within a residential setting.
- Knowledge and understanding of what a Person-Centred Approach means to residents.
- Experience of learning difficulties and/or challenging behaviour.
- Experience in the personal care and hygiene of another person.
- A current First Aid / Food Hygiene or Fire Safety Certificate.
- NVQ3 in Care or equivalent
