The role:
To act as and retain competence as a Development Engineer undertaking the Development and Testing of Pyrotechnic, Explosive, and other articles and devices to support product design and post design in accordance with company procedures.
The Candidate:
- Level 6 preferred
- Level 4+ with experience will be considered
- 5 Years British residency
- Permitted to work in the UK
Knowledge/Experience Required:
- Working as an Engineer at an intermediate level
- Experience of working in a highly regulated environment.
- Practical Engineering Skills (good workshop practice)
- 3D CAD Modelling experience
- CCM Specific FMEA experience
- Experience of Explosive/Pyrotechnic article development and testing
- Knowledge of Pyrotechnic, Propellant and Explosive Engineering
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- To act as a Development Engineer to support the work of the RD&D department
- To prepare proposals for product development including details project plans, resource scheduling and costing.
- To source materials and equipment for prototype manufacture.
- To perform product development activities to agree timescales and costs.
- To assess measured data to establish performance parameters.
- To collate and assess safety data to identify hazards in use.
- To support FMEA activities
- To collate data and technically report development activities.
- To maintain technical documentation and reports
- To liaise with other company departments to ensure the effective transition of development products into volume manufacture.
- To represent the company and interface with external customers at an intermediate level
- To adhere to safe working practices
- To undertake research work to support feasibility studies.
- To advise chemists on safety aspects relating to engineering
- To prepare Risk assessments and work instructions
- To keep abreast of technological advancement through published literature and study.
- To advise management of potential project slippage or technical problems
- To travel as required to attend external tests and trials, meetings and seminars, in the UK and abroad
- To maintain a log book of activity.
- To manage and mentor other staff when assigned by management
