SYNLAB Laboratory Services is part of SYNLAB UK & Ireland, who provide laboratory diagnostic and training services to a diverse range of sectors including healthcare and wellness, sport, travel, corporates and insurers, logistics and family law.
Our site in Abergavenny has 2 in-house laboratories, offering a wide range of pathology tests including occupational health and wellness tests, as well as workplace drug and alcohol testing. In addition to our laboratories providing UKAS accredited ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO 15189 testing, we are one of only a few providers offering an end-to-end in-house collection and laboratory service.
About the Role:
We have a rare and exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated Reporting Scientist to join our Toxicology team. You will work directly with customers and provide expert witness support to the workplace and judicial system, along with providing technical and toxicological support. Key Responsibilities:
- To accurately interpret laboratory data collected during analysis of samples for drugs, drug metabolites, alcohol and alcohol metabolites.
- Provide clear presentation of findings as certificates of analysis and when required, witness statements or expert reports.
- To demonstrate good document practice and toxicology methods.
- To ensure deliverables meet ISO 17025 testing standards.
About you:
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Post Graduate Degree or equivalent in relevant subject
- Good laboratory skills to broaden the resilience of the team
- Good working knowledge of Triple Quad LCMS systems
- Ability to communicate with a range of customer contacts
- Experience in working with SOPs, Risk assessment, COSHH
- Experience of working with ISO 17025 standards and QC/QA Management
- Computer literate (Microsoft Office packages, WP, LIMS)
- Must understand confidentiality and GDPR
- Ability to make reasoned and appropriate decisions and be able to work on own initiative
Desirable Skills and Experience:
- At least 3 years toxicology experience
- Good working knowledge of Agilent LCMS platforms preferably 6460
- Good working knowledge of Agilent MassHunter Software
