About the role:
We are seeking an experienced administrator to join our Registry team.
The postholder will be handling enquiries and administration within our Registry team, for two of our five Centres, Centre for Black Theology (CBT) and Centre for Discipleship and Theology (CDT).
A good knowledge and experience of Black Majority Churches (BMC), especially Black Pentecostal churches, will be essential to support the work of CBT, particularly for handling admissions and registry process for students from BMCs. Knowledge and experience of online learning will be valuable in supporting the work of CDT. Both Centres will require pre-planned evening and weekend work from time to time.
As well as working closely with the two Centre Directors, the postholder will be responsible to the Registry Manager. Registry work will include carrying out administrative tasks using our virtual learning environment (Moodle) and our database, to create and maintain accurate student records and support assessment and marking processes.
The ideal candidate will therefore need strong administrative experience, preferably in a higher education setting.
The ability to show initiative and flexibility in responding quickly to developing priorities will be important. The postholder will need to be well-organised and proactive, with excellent written and verbal communication skills, and a keen eye for detail, to enable them to deliver excellent service in this busy and varied role.
Excellent IT skills, including Office 365 are essential. Experience in using a Virtual Learning Environment to administer assessments (preferably Moodle and Turnitin) would be an advantage, as would experience of using a database to administer student records, though we are happy to provide training for the right person.
Responsibilities:
- To support students and prospective students of CBT and CDT in relation to recruitment, admissions, and enrolment
- To provide Registry administration for the continuing student journey
- To provide administrative support to CBT
- To provide administrative support to CDT
- To contribute to all Registry activities and the smooth-running of the Registry office
Essential skills and experience:
- Relevant experience in administration
- Experience and knowledge of Black Majority Churches, especially Black Pentecostal Churches
- Experience in clerking meetings, including excellent minute-taking skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to respond appropriately to diverse customers and guests
- GCSE pass English and Maths
- Educated to A level or equivalent
- Strong IT skills using Office 365 (including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel)
Desirable skills and experience:
- Experience in a similar Higher Education administrative role
- Work-based experience with a Virtual Learning Environment, preferably Moodle
- Experience in administering online learning
- Experience in fulfilling hosting duties on Zoom, including the use of breakout room
- Experience using databases
