Sheffcare is a registered charity, operating in Sheffield and serving the needs of over 500 older people.
The company began operating as a not for profit company in 1994, when a number of care homes were transferred out of local authority ownership into the ownership of the company. The organisational vision was to secure the provision of services and provide high quality care for older people in Sheffield at the lowest possible price.
The charity has now been operating for over 20 years and this element of the vision remains the same.

The role:
To successfully lead a team to deliver excellent care to service users who have individual needs.
The Candidate:
- Level 4 Diploma / NVQ in Social Care or Health Care (achieved or working towards) or
- Level 4 Diploma / NVQ in Management (achieved or working towards) or
- Registered Managers Award
- Proven ability at providing excellent care for vulnerable people and spot opportunities to develop and grow the service
- Financial and commercial acumen
- Excellent motivation and people skills to lead and manage a large, diverse team
- 3 years experience of being a registered manager
- Proficient at planning and organising and managing a large operation
- A self starter who sees every obstacle as an opportunity
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Service Users
- Actively engage with service users and visitors to impart a welcoming and receptive experience
- Observe and develop the care service to meet the changing needs of the service users
- Coordinate and implement a care plan strategy and review mechanism for all service users in the home and ensure implemented with all recipients
- Create and implement avenues for service user feedback to improve the quality of the service and new solutions
- To ensure the diversity, respect, dignity and confidentiality of all service users are adhered to at all times and by all employees
Team
- Provide inspirational leadership with integrity that role models the ethics and values of the organisation and maintains high visibility across the organisation
- Take the lead on developing and improving the team delivery of the service
- Lead, manage, motivate and take ownership of all employee relations within the home including recruitment, development, supervision, performance management according to the people policies and procedures and relevant employment laws
- Utilise the support teams across the organisation to help you achieve your objectives
- Lead on all communication within the home to keep employees and service users engaged
- Actively look for talent within the organisation to facilitate a succession plan
- Facilitate and promote a working partnership with all stakeholders involved with individual care
Planning & Organising
- Create objectives and targets for your home improvement and deliver against the timescales agreed
- Plan and forecast the budget in advance of the financial year and apply the necessary monitoring process and re-forecasting through the financial year
- Create and implement the staff rotas within the agreed timescales and budgets
- Utilise monthly reports and management information to improve the service delivery and the business
Control and Quality
- Ensure compliance with Care Regulations, CQC and other governance within the care industry
- Manage health and safety, security and emergency systems of all service users and employees to be fully compliant with the relevant law
- Take ownership and responsibility for resolution of any complaint received by following the SheffCare policy and procedure
Business Mindset
- Be enthusiastic about setting and monitoring targets that add value to the service user experience, keep within financial constraints, and effectively and proactively manage budgets
- Contribute proactively with solutions to promote and develop the organisation strategy and business plans
- Keep updated with changes both internally and externally that will affect the business plans and contribute to any changed agenda as a result
- Be able to make commercial decisions and write business cases to support potential new services
- Be proactive with raising income streams and ensuring occupancy is achieved at the optimum income and surplus levels
