Job Title: Regional Welfare Officer
Location: North Wales area
Salary: £10,111 to £11,234 per annum (£23,698 – £26,331 per annum FTE)
Job type: Part time, Permanent (16 hours per week)

The Trust is a highly regarded charity operating throughout the UK who are looking for an experienced Welfare Officer to visit beneficiaries of a welfare programme.
Job Purpose:
The role is to provide a welfare visiting service to retired Pilkington/NSG employees in and around the Wrexham area.
To visit beneficiaries in necessitous circumstances and identify their needs and put in place appropriate services enabling them to remain as independent as possible in their own home.
Key Responsibilities:
- To visit beneficiaries in their own homes
- To carry out assessments on beneficiaries and make appropriate referrals
- To visit new retirees and assess for level of visiting required
- To accept referrals from external bodies and take appropriate action
- To acquire full knowledge of the Welfare Programme and a working knowledge of State Benefits and all other associated benefits available to older people
- To maintain accurate and up to date administration records
- To represent the Pilkington Family Trust on external bodies as and when required
- To attend Welfare Officer Meetings and any appropriate training activities
- To arrange and attend various pensioners’ activities including lunches, outings and self-help group functions
- To respond to any Connections queries
Skills and Experience:
- Diploma in Welfare Studies or qualification of equivalent standard
- Be able to demonstrate ability to apply yourself to studying
- Be committed to continued professional development
- Must preferably be educated to GCSE standard to Grade C/4 or above
- Full, clean driving licence essential
- Basic computer skills required preferably certificated, e.g. New CLAIT
- Experienced in working with older people in unsupervised situations
- Demonstrate proven experience in assessing individual care needs
- Experience of working as part of a team and working in isolation
- Experience of working/liaising with other agencies would be an advantage e.g. Health professionals/Care Agencies etc.
- Basic knowledge of state benefits is desirable
- Membership of professional groups/committees in caring field e.g. member of Arthritis Care/Stroke/Parkinsons/Alzheimers Disease Society
- Voluntary work would be an advantage
- Ability to build good working relationships with colleagues, retirees and outside agencies is essential
- Good team worker – willing to assist others and share knowledge
- Have positive coaching/mentoring skills setting a good example for others
- Good general standard of health demonstrating dexterity
- Good image, well presented in order to be a good ambassador for the organisation
