Butterworth Laboratories is a busy contract analytical laboratory working primarily for the pharmaceutical industry. The company is independent and prides itself in providing a high quality, reliable analytical service to its clients.
The role:
As part of the Quotations and Business Development department, this role involves fielding and processing of customer enquiries and the generation of quotations. Working in close collaboration with the sample processing teams and technical experts within the laboratory, as well as communication with existing and prospective customers will also be a key responsibility of the role.
Job Responsibilities of a Quotations and Business Development Officer:
- Receiving, recording and processing inbound enquiries and generating quotations, price confirmations, and price lists within the required timeframes.
- Filtering enquiries from new clients or for new work and responding accordingly where required.
- Follow-up of quotations generated soon to expire
- Identifying quotation process improvements and assisting with the planning, testing and implementation of improvements.
- Analysing quotation metrics and producing reports to support Business Development activities.
- Maintaining client information on the CRM system.
- Identification of business opportunities based on client contact and information
- Maintaining relationships with new and existing clients
- Supporting and working with the Business Development & Quotations Manager in the development and implementation of Business Development and Marketing initiatives.
- Carrying out client surveys, analysing the results and the production of reports to support Business Development activities.
- Assisting in the production of news bulletins and other marketing literature.
- Production of reports for Management.
Experience / Knowledge/ Qualifications
Required:
- Experience and/or understanding of analytical chemistry techniques, particularly as they relate to the pharmaceutical industry
- BSc or equivalent scientific experience
Desired:
- Experience working in a customer relations environment
- Experience working in a laboratory
