Salary: £25,055 to £30,230 Dependant on experience

The Centre for Sustainable Energy (CSE) is a Bristol-based national charity that supports people and organisations across the UK to tackle the climate emergency and end the suffering caused by cold homes. We do this by sharing our knowledge, practical experience and policy insights.

The Role

We are currently seeking two individuals to fill the role of either Senior Project Worker (Quantitative Analysis) or Project Officer (Quantitative Analysis), with the latter being a more senior position. The actual role offered to the successful candidates will depend on their demonstrated level of experience, their track record of independent working and the extent of any relevant specialist expertise.

Both roles sit within the Research & Analysis (R&A) Team at CSE and will be line managed by a Project Manager or Senior Project Manager within the team. The roles will principally support activities involving quantitative research or analysis, with the bulk of this relating to projects led by the R&A team

Responsibilities include

  • To contribute technical knowledge, research skills and project support to delivery of R&A projects.
  • Delivering high quality project work, predominantly quantitative research, analysis or other technical input as required by relevant project managers, as well as meeting project deadlines, budgetary targets and providing administrative support.
  • Assisting on research projects on an ongoing basis using data analysis, statistical analysis, modelling and mapping tools (both in-house and external) or other quantitative techniques.
  • Contributing to high quality written material for reports and other publications by summarising key research findings, presenting effective visualisation of data and producing well evidenced research findings.
  • Contributing to the development of CSE responses to invitations to tender for project work.
  • Developing and maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of research and policy issues affecting the development and delivery of sustainable energy initiatives, including fuel poverty alleviation.

Ideal Candidate

  • A degree level qualification or equivalent in a related field such energy, environmental science, engineering, mathematics, physics, or similar.
  • A minimum of two years’ experience working in similar or related professional role including a track record of quantitative analysis.
  • Experience in advanced use of spreadsheets and Excel functions.
  • Experience of managing, cleaning, and processing data.
  • Numerical and data analysis skills, ability to interpret and describe quantitative research findings, as reported in written, tabular or chart form.
  • Interest in energy issues, social justice, alleviating fuel poverty and tackling the climate crisis.
