Job Title: Quality Inspector / Trainee Quality inspector

Salary: £24,000 – £34,000 depending on experience

The role:
Due to company expansion Colt precision a leading subcontractor of orthopaedic medical instruments, aerospace, defence, general precision engineering components are looking for a Quality Inspector to fit into our small, dynamic team.
Extra info about the role:
The role is a full-time position of 39 hours per week and we are flexible around how the hours will work best for you as long as they fit within our core opening hours of 6 am – 6 pm Monday to Thursday, 6am – 1pm Friday.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Inspection of parts dimensionally using vernier calipers, micrometres, gauges and CMM
- First-off inspection of parts, aesthetical inspection of parts
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, inspecting parts thoroughly and precisely.
- Work with the production engineering team to rectify issues
- Producing First Article Inspection (FAI)
- Identifying and reporting on any repeating quality concerns
- Maintenance of inspection records
- Management of calibration
- Maintenance of a clean and organised inspection office
- The role is highly flexible and will also include covering aspects of incoming inspections
Essential Experience from Candidate:
- The ideal candidate will be from an engineering/manufacturing environment with either experience of working in a quality department or keen interest in quality and is proactive about developing and learning in the role.
- An understanding and use of tools such as: vernier callipers, micrometres and gauges is expected.
- The candidate would display excellent attention to detail, good communication skills and the ability to read and understand engineering drawings
- A desirable skill set would include, but not be limited to
- Well organised
- Methodical and precise with good attention to detail
- Ability to multitask and prioritise in line with business needs
