Job Title: Quality Engineer – (Defence/Aerospace Precision Engineering)
Location: Chelmsford
Salary: £29K – £32K per year – Depending on Experience.
Job type: Full Time – Permanent. 38 hours per week.
The Role:
Are you a Quality Engineer from a Defence or Aerospace background looking to join a Precision Engineering supplier for complex components to OEMs?
On offer is an opportunity to work for an Engineering business supplying into the exciting and fast-growing defence industry who has invested in our Inspection department using state-of-the-art equipment to measure the most demanding OEM components.
Driving continuous improvements to ensure compliance and quality products will be embraced. Looking for ambition in implementing new, more efficient, and effective ways to ensure our continued progress.
This is an exciting position demanding an enterprising person that can work in an ordered and methodical manner.
Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership, direction, expertise and coaching in our Zero Defect ambition across Problem Solving and Process Control.
- Drive continuous reductions in Supplier NCRs & Internal NCR to support Zero-Defects.
- Manage the Non-conformance reporting internally and externally ensuring corrective actions are clear and concise, ensuring they are closing out the root cause.
- Internal auditing.
- Managing all gauge calibration.
- Working closely with inspection, production, and stores to ensure compliance to procedures.
- Supporting the Quality Manager in any other duties to support our customers and accreditations.
- Assist in driving improvements in our Quality Management System with direction from the quality manager.
- Support in producing FAIRs as required.
- Management of C of C both suppliers and customers.
- Support inspection department as required.
- Update key management reports relating to the quality department.
Qualifications/Skills/Experience:
- Experience of using an ERP system.
- Experienced non-conformance reporting using quality tools such as 5 Whys and 8D analysis.
- Experience of pulling a small team together to problem solve.
- Experience of driving change for efficiency/compliance and quality.
- Practical application of SharePoint and O365 applications.
- Significant quality and manufacturing sector experience, preferably within the precision engineering industry.
- An approachable manner and able to communicate effectively at all levels internally and externally.
- Strong inter personnel and relationship building abilities.
