The Role:
We are currently looking for an experienced Purchasing Coordinator to join our busy office in Tockwith, near York. The role requires a good communicator who is diligent, values accuracy and has a good eye for detail. The ability to be flexible, positive and good at juggling priorities is essential.
The Purchasing Coordinator will be responsible for conducting day to day enquires on purchasing within Stage One. They will negotiate costs, liaise with suppliers, and obtain quotes, ensuring the most competitive rates and payment terms are met. The role requires a good communicator, who must be flexible and positive with excellent organisational skills. The ability to keep calm and focused under pressure is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cost gathering and obtaining quotes
- To manage negotiations with Suppliers to ensure the most competitive rates & payment terms
- Liaising with suppliers regarding deliveries (and late deliveries)
- Booking in deliveries from external suppliers
- Updating management systems within purchasing
- To conduct day to day enquires on purchasing
- Running reports on current orders
- To be a support to the sales operation including quick turnaround of pricing required for projects
- To keep the supplier database up to date and source and approve new suppliers
- Approve invoices when necessary, checking against purchase order
- Deliver strong communication within Production Departments
- To regularly review the performance of key suppliers
- To ensure Purchasing procedures are followed in accordance with company standards & the QMS
- To complete regular internal audits within Purchasing and provide findings to the Compliance Manager

Person specification:
Qualifications –
- A general education to include 5 GCSE passes at Grade C or above (including Maths and English), or an equivalent educational qualification, or relevant experience (Essential)
Skills, abilities and competencies –
- Proficient at using Microsoft Office applications (Essential)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (Essential)
- Strong attention to detail (Essential)
- Experience of multi-tasking in a busy and varied environment (Essential)
- Proactive, organised and methodical approach to work (Essential)
- Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people, both verbally and in written communication (Essential)
- Ability to effectively organise and prioritise own work and follow procedures in order to produce work to a high standard, to required deadlines (Essential)
Experience –
- Previous experience in a Purchasing Coordinator role (Desirable)
- Experience negotiating with suppliers (Desirable)

Additional information: Hours: Monday- Friday, 8.00am- 5.00pm (1 Hour Lunch Break)
