Job Title: Public Cloud Architect
Location: Edinburgh
Salary: Competitive depending on experience
Job type: Full time, Permanent
In January 2020, the Company became part of a larger Group, with colleagues and subsidiaries now located across UK, Ireland, and Netherlands.
The Company is a boutique UK cloud service provider, who specialise in enabling companies to progress along the path of cloud maturity while driving better outcomes from their customers’ existing technology investments.
Their ability to deliver flexible infrastructures utilising both private and public cloud technologies coupled with our responsive, agile, and above-all hugely capable technical teams is why customers choose them above larger, slower-moving competitors and their innovative Transformation-as-a-Service approach separates them from other competitors.
Services range from traditional VMware-based infrastructure; Backup & DR, to public cloud management with AWS, Azure, and Google; as well as newer PaaS & Dev-Ops and Containerisation services.
Due to their continued expansion into 2021, they’re searching for a talented Public Cloud Architect to join the dynamic and growing technical team based in Edinburgh.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Customer Support
The company provides managed cloud and network services, and the ability to provide responsive, agile, and above-all intelligent support is why customers choose them above larger, slower-moving competitors. As a Cloud Architect one of your primary responsibilities is to respond to customer support enquiries, tickets, and change requests.
Automation and Orchestration
If the company have to carry out a menial task more than once, it’s best to automate it. They have no desire to expand to 100 desks of junior support staff carrying out basic server checks and password resets – far better to write microservices to poll the infrastructure, well-structured alerts with intelligent automated escalations, and CI pipelines to run periodic tests.
You will have automated deployment experience, including orchestration tools such as Puppet or Ansible, as well as CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or GitLab. Automation of alerting using Nagios or Solarwinds is also desirable.
